Although the edge of Kettle Pond in Groton, VT isn’t technically a bog, it has some boggy characteristics such as an abundance of heaths and mosses growing from the acidic, seepy perimeter. We used to fit all four of us in the canoe to reach our campsite, but last summer I volunteered to hike the trail that circumnavigates the perimeter of the pond to make more room for the increasingly long legs of our boys. And I’m glad I did, as the trail offered sites like this one.
