Our summer camping trip happened to coincide with the Perseid Meteor Showers than happen every August. It was cloudy when we went to bed, so when I woke up at midnight, I said to myself, “I wonder if it’s clear enough to see any meteors tonight?”. As I glanced up to the small opening in the trees above our campsite I instantly saw a bright streak flash across the sky amidst a backdrop of glittering stars. That answered my question! I sat up for a bit to watch the show. Painted from memory, this piece has a dream-like quality and the enchanted feeling of night in the forest.
