Inspired by my first spring hike of 2026, the gnarled wood and mossy boulders in this painting are inspired by the Canyon Trail on Mt. Mansfield, which parallels the ridgeline just below the Long Trail. In this slot of tumbling rocks and poking branches one finds an adventurous feeling of dwelling where most do not.
