This is probably one of the most challenging sections of the Long Trail under the southern tip of Mt. Mansfield’s forehead. There’s one scramble where you are on a steep and narrow precipice and then squeeze under an overhang that snags your pack even in a crawling position. I get a little jolt of adrenaline just remembering it. I was glad to be scaling it on a day hike with a small daypack and not a full overnight pack. Kudos to the many hikers who have done it that way!
