16 X 20 original acrylic painting on canvas
This painting of the Frost Trail on Mt. Mansfield started out as an experiment a fellow artist suggested of turning a day-time reference photo into a nocturn by using an intentionally limited and cool palette. At first I was going for a moonlit quality, but I ultimately veered away from that back into the daylight and expanded color choices. However, I kept some of the cooler tones in the trees, lending an almost surreal quality - a little dream-like, maybe a threshold between reality and beyond. It all feels like it’s vibrating a little, and I want to follow that figure further in.
Ships framed with a natural wood floater frame in a generously padded box. If you are local to Vermont you may also opt for “pickup” upon checkout at the Emile Gruppe Gallery in Jericho, VT.
