Henry's World - Print

$40.00

This is a limited edition print of an original acrylic painting. Printed with archival quality inks and paper. This print comes in one size printed on 11 X 11 paper so that it may be matted up to a standard frame size.

The concept for this painting was influenced by a conversation I had with my son Henry when he was ~5 years old. In this conversation he told me that he remembered a time before he was born where he was just a soul surrounded by light. He became aware it was time to become human, and while he was in my womb he had perfect knowledge of the world. He was connected to everything and could sense all the world around him on a molecular level. He said when he was born, all of this knowledge was erased and he had to start over. On another occasion, while laying in the snow in the forest together, looking up at the tops of trees, he told me out of the blue that I shouldn’t be afraid to die, because our bodies could be buried under the same tree, and we would both live on together as part of every living thing in the forest.

He is like a Buddha ecologist. I’m not sure how he comes by this existential wisdom, but I find his perspective calming and peaceful. When I look at it, it reminds me of what I believe our true simple purpose is in this life: to love and care for every being and this earth.

Ships in a sturdy envelope. If you are local to Vermont you may also opt for “pickup” upon checkout at the Emile Gruppe Gallery in Jericho, VT.
