I love the sections of trail in the spruce-fir elevation where the soil is thin and the lack of sunlight suppresses any undergrowth, allowing for a preponderance of moss. Moss on every surface, many species comingling, creating a lush atmosphere. This is a view from along the Monroe Skyline between the Lincoln and App gaps on a late fall day where we felt the first few snowflakes of the season.
