I have a distinct childhood memory of sitting atop the slope at Bass Rocks in Gloucester, Massachusetts during a celestial event called syzygy where the moon, sun and earth are in alignment. This causes extreme tides, and we went to watch the breakers crashing on the rocks. Although we were sitting next to the road in a place we thought safe, we still managed to get drenched by a rogue wave!
